I guess we have a busy August ahead over on Simplistic Reviews as we'll be covering the 2020 Fantasia Film Festival!

Yes; US, Simplistic Reviews, will have our grubby little hands, and opinions, all over this year's VIRTUAL version of the long-standing film fest.

In this little preview, we'll highlight some of the best looking flicks that have been announced so far. A taste of what's to come, if you will.

DINNER IN AMERICA

'An on-the-lam punk rocker and a young woman obsessed with his band go on an unexpected and epic journey together through the decaying suburbs of the American Midwest.'

Something about 'DINNER IN AMERICA' screams early Jason Reitman with the quirky feel of 'Napoleon Dynamite.' With so much genre fare, this should lighten the mood before you get into the hard stuff.

TINY TIM: KING FOR A DAY

I feel like even if you don't know who Tiny Tim is; you know who Tiny Tim is. 'Tiny Tim: King for a Day' looks so weird and quirky and peeks behind the curtain of a true oddball piece of Americana.

THE RECKONING

Neil Marshall is already great and seeing what he's doing with 'The Reckoning' is exciting. Plague masks, blunderbusses, witchcraft, the Devil, what more do you really want.

THE MORTUARY COLLECTION

I'm a sucker for a great horror anthology, and it's looking like 'The Mortuary Collection' is going to scratch that itch. From early reviews it's being called 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark for grown-ups' and has some promising early buzz. Plus, Clancy Brown.

MONSTER SEAFOOD WARS

'Monster Seafood Wars' just looks like pure insanity. Classic kaiju cheese with the nostalgia factor of 'Power Rangers' and 'Ultraman' with a couple of dashes of j-Drama and even a little commentary on our state of social media and reality TV culture. All that, and a giant crab, squid and octopus on a rampage.

FOR THE SAKE OF VICIOUS

'For the Sake of Vicious' is looking like a love letter to 'Assault on Precinct 13' with the addition of the always fun element of taking place on Halloween. Really sets the mood if you ask me.

FRIED BARRY

'Fried Barry' looks wild. A drug-fueled, hallucinatory, horror show of epic alien-abducting proportions and all sorts of other hijinks. I'm thinking 'Fire in the Sky' meets 'Color Out of Space' with the manic look and feel of 'Trainspotting.'

With all 100 films being showcased over the course of nearly two weeks, this is merely a taste, a morsel, of whats on the docket for Fantasia Fest.
