The 4th Annual North Bend Film Fest: An SR Preview
The 4th Annual North Bend Film Festival
We seem to be crawling out from the shadow and malaise of a global pandemic that didn't seem to have an end in sight. But the ON SWITCH of the world has been flicked we enter a post-Covid 19 world with some hope and optimism and of course the restart of Summer Film Festivals.
Over on Simplistic Reviews we feel lucky to be a part of the Fourth Edition of The North Bend Film Festival, in a virtual way of course.
This year's festival features some truly off-the-wall features, which we'll get into below, as well as robust collections of short films, which we'll get into as the festival draws ever closer. So join us as we take you behind the scenes of some of the selections from the 2021 North Ben Film Festival.
TAILGATE (2019)
There is something to be said the old "Revenge on the Road" film. From "Duel" to "Joy Ride" it's a fun and creepy concept. From the Netherlands, "Tailgate" takes the formula and seems to up the stakes.
CRYPTOZOO (2020)
A stellar voice cast, featuring the likes of Lake Bell, Michael Cera, and Zoe Kazan, "Cryptozoo" looks like a trip. If I'm going to compare it to something super obscure, it reminds me of the Aeon Flux episode where Trevor Goodchild is in love with a weird flying cryptid-type creature that he keeps locked up in a cell while a male version of the same cryptid is locked in another cell. Maybe it's just me...
WE'RE ALL GOING TO THE WORLD'S FAIR (2021)
The evolution of on-line culture continues to intrigue and confound, and "We're All Going to the World's Fair" looks like a doozy. Combining YouTube videos into a horror drama, the "Fair" looks to shine a light on when too much time on-line starts to cross the line of reality and fantasy.
LUCHADORAS (2021)
"Luchadoras" looks to shine a giant spotlight not only on inequalities of females in the wrestling business, but the brutality of being a female in the world itself. The backdrop of Ciudad Juarez shows the day-to-day struggle of being a woman in a city full of violence and toxicity.
This is merely a taste of just some of the great films on display at this year's festival. For a complete slate of the 4th Annual North Bend Film Festival, click HERE
About the North Bend Film Festival
The PNW’s premier vanguard storytelling event! July 15-18, 2021
Opening night film SWAN SONG is a great character study of a gay former hairdresser who escapes his nursing home to make good on a promise he made long ago and he goes on this spiritual journey in his old hometown. The closing night film THE BLAZING WORLD presents a visually stunning, Neil Gaiman-esque dream world that a sister must brave in order to find her long lost twin sister. Our centerpiece films include WE’RE ALL GOING TO THE WORLD’S FAIR, a haunting tale of a girl who loses herself in a nightmarish internet game, and CRYPTOZOO, an incredibly imaginative, animated epic about a world where magical creatures are being hunted.
