Simply Spooky: That Scene In ‘Serial Mom’

John Waters is a living legend. He knows how to piss people off. Well, not all people, mainly self-serious Americans that are scared of sex and perversity.

1994’s “Serial Mom” is an unsung classic in the Waters’ filmography. Sure, “Pink Flamingos” and “Cecil B. Demented” probably get the lion-share of praise, but the way “Mom” handles media and it’s outrageousness, notably in the era of the OJ Simpson murder case/trial, is fantastic. Not to mention Kathleen Turner, who is just the absolute best.

So, hey, remember ‘That Scene In “Serial Mom” where Beverly Sutphin (Turner) is questioned by police about a vulgar message her neighbor Dottie Hinkle (Mink Stole) received in the mail. And of course, the phone call after that.
