Simple Thoughts: Shudder’s 101 Scariest Horror Movie Moments of All Time Part II (49-1)
It’s always spooky season around here on Simplistic Reviews, and while it might not be The Season of the Witch anymore, my girlfriend(s) always told me, “Hey! Finish what you started!!”
Take that as you may…
Here my some thoughts on the rest of Shudder’s ‘101 Scariest Horror Movie Moments of All Time.’
Number 49 is ‘Bay of Blood’ from Mario Bava and it’s the only sex scene on this list.
‘The Conjuring’ shows up at 48…yay…
What’s scarier in ‘Get Out?’ The Sunken Place or the reveal of what is actually happen and was going to happen to Chris?
‘Inside’ is the only French New Extreme film to make the list
Was ‘The Blair Witch Project’ a victim of it’s own success?
I still don’t care about ‘Paranormal Activity.’
‘Let Me In’ > ‘Let the Right One In.’ Fight me.
The restaurant scene in 2020’s ‘The Invisible Man’ is criminally underrated.
I like ‘Hostel’…but at 30?
‘I Saw The Devil’ I would argue should be higher on the list (it’s at 25)
No one talks about ‘Scanners’ outside of the exploding head…
‘Train to Busan’ is a top ten moment?
Here is your Top Five
5, Psycho (not so much the shower scene, but more so the staircase scene)
4, Audition (a bunch of scenes, but I guess the phone/bag scene)
3, Hereditary (two scenes; the telephone pole scene and the ‘Toni-Collette-in-the-corner-of-the-room’ scene)
2, The Thing (a bunch of scenes but mainly the heart paddle scene)
1, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the door slamming shut and the meat hook scenes)
Overall, the list was fun. I always enjoy lists like this, they are open for debate and while I don’t agree with the placement of some of the scenes, Shudder created a great program that I’ll likely add to my annual Halloween viewing to put me in the spirit.
